Adobe Photoshop CS5
Adobe Photoshop CS5 software allows you to scan, create, modify and enhance digital photographs and images.
This latest version of the digital imaging standard introduces new levels of power, precision and control, with an exciting combination of revolutionary new features and next-generation enhancements.
Adobe Photoshop CS5 software contains new color-correction enhancements.
Brightness/Contrast now provides better results from the same intuitive interface, and enhanced Curves controls let you make automatic adjustments with included presets or those you create; convert to black-and-white with point sliders; and use a histogram, color channel lines, and a clipping preview. Easily convert color images to rich black-and-white and adjust tonal values and tints with a new tool. Experiment with the included black-and-white presets, or create and save your own custom presets to achieve the best results. Create and edit 32-bit images and combine multiple exposures into a single, 32-bit image that preserves the full range of a scene - from the deepest shadows to the brightest highlights. New image processing and alignment algorithms deliver superior results.
Photography, Print, Creative, Marketing and Web Professionals as well as anyone who needs to create, edit, manipulate, colour correct digital imagery.

Colour Correction - Advanced
Duration: Three-Day Course
Platform: Windows and Macintosh
Fee: $2150 CDN (+HST)
A non-refundable deposit of $750 (Cdn funds) is due at the time of registration.
This class is limited to seven people.
This special course continues with the use of concepts developed in Dan Margulis’s “Colour Correction in Adobe Photoshop” course, which is a prerequisite for this session. The objective is still the same: to acquire the best possible colour and detail on the printed page. Principles taught in the basic course are extended and certain specialized subjects are covered in greater detail, however special effects will not be covered. The schedule and format also remains the same: three long days of hands-on exercises interspersed with demonstrations and discussions.
The curriculum was restructured in 1999. Therefore, anyone who attended the course prior to 1999 would benefit from retaking the course, as there is very little overlap of content.
- More intense use of channel blending
- More advanced sharpening techniques
- Study of the means of conversion to CMYK
- More use of LAB or variants
- Images with fleshtones that are blown out or too dark
- Critical details of highlights and/or shadows in images
- Images that look great in RGB, but horrible when converted to CMYK
- Converting colour images to black and white
About the Instructor: Dan Margulis, a veteran prepress manager, is author of the classic guide to colour correction, “Professional Photoshop”, and of “Professional Photoshop 6”, which is distributed to each student in the class. His column, “Makeready”, focusing on production issues, appears in Electronic Publishing magazine.
